” The Relationship Idol “
Idol= an image or representation of a god used as an object of worship. And to worship means to put something or someone else above all things making it number 1.
Whenever we put anything before God we have knowingly or unknowing made that thing an idol in our lives.
Exodus 20:3-5 “ You shall have no other gods before me.
You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God”
This can be a material thing like your cell phone money or shopping, a person, a place, a tv show etc. But here is one we put before God that you may not have thought about, the idea of RELATIONSHIPS.
Ever heard of a girl talk about relationships and nothing but relationships? Or always talking about being married and love etc? I have! In fact I was SHE! I didnt realize that all the while, as I was talking about love and seeking this “love” it became an unhealthy search and desire. I began to worship the Idea or concept of love and relationships instead of the giver of true love and true relationships. I worshiped the created instead of the creator. Instead of seeking God who is love, I began to seek after what He was capable of giving. We tend to look at love as a man and woman in a relationship type thing but love is so much deeper than that. That’s only a product of God’s Love. If we dont know God then we dont know love.
Love= self sacrifice for the sake of another. Example, Jesus, who sacraficed himself for all mankind.That’s real love ( go ahead and take a moment to thank Him)
While you think you are on the right path to finding love ( in a relationship with a man / marriage,) you can very well be missing it, worshiping “the search for love” or “the idea of relationships” instead of seeking True love= God through His son Jesus Christ 🙂 Once you find God everything else will line up. #ItReallyIsAGodThing
