Words of Encouragement: Read Gods Word!
Words of Encouragement: Read Gods Word!
Creating a better relationship with Christ.
We must believe the word of God more than anything else! The devil’s job is to kill steal and destroy. He lives to lie to us constantly and when we believe his lies then we become defeated, broken, sad, depressed, and wanting to kill ourselves. We definitely don’t receive anything God wants us to have.
If we are not reading Gods word then we are losing! We have no power and nothing to fight with. More than likely we are fighting people and circumstances with worldly things instead of fighting the real enemy with spiritual weapons.
I hear this often and to be honest, these have been some of my best sayings: “I don’t know how to trust God”, “I can’t feel God’s love”, “I keep sinning over and over”, “I’m sad and depressed all the time”, ” I’m having suicidal thoughts”, ” I’m always thinking bad things” etc. When asked or if I ask myself if I’m reading the bible the answer is “no” or “not like I should.”
We have to program our minds to think how God thinks and in order to do that we must read His word every day and meditate on it (to replay it over and over in our minds). The devil comes and attacks our minds, no where else, and that’s where our strength must be. Our thoughts then produce actions and that’s how sin is born. Everyone gets attacked daily and the higher you go in Christ the more attacked you’re going to get. You will never get so spiritual to where the enemy won’t come and attack you. Jesus Christ left the best example in Matthew 4:1-11. After Jesus fasted 40 days and nights, tired and all, the devil knew he was tired so he tried to tempt him to sin. Every time, Jesus said to the devil, “It is written”, and quoted the word of God and the enemy fled from him. That’s what we should do!
Just a couple weeks ago I was scheduled to encourage young ladies at a college and what do you know? The devil started feeding me lies left and right.
“Who are you? You don’t know anything, you’re not qualified, they’re not going to feel you, it’s going to be a fail”.
He was attacking me hard, even to the point of tears, but if I didn’t know Gods word or how to pray, his lies probably would have held me back and fear would have took me down. I shouted to the devil (literally) Gods word.
“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear;I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13
The devil has a clue that God is taking you great places even when you can’t see it and he will try to hinder you with all his might.
He even tries to tempt me with being jealous of others family relationships, since I come from a broken home, but I have learned that the moment I feel it I immediately pray and dismiss it, speaking this:
“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” Romans 8:32
There is nothing that He’s not capable of blessing me with. 🙂
Always remember this; even though a feeling or thought may come to our minds we don’t have to entertain it. It’s not about what you’re tempted with, the devil will always tempt you, but what you do with the temptation.
This fight for my mind, my life, is daily. To help me stand and defeat the enemy, I write a scripture down on a note card every week, usually something I’m struggling with at that moment, and I read it throughout the day, when I’m at school, walking down the hall, eating, whenever. This is a great way for me to meditate on his word, receiving it in full, while constantly on the go and I think this will help you get rooted in His word as well.
You can always tell how close a person is to Christ just by how they live, what they are doing, saying and thinking. The more you are in His word, the closer you will get to God, and the more victorious you will be. If you’re not familiar with the bible, Google scriptures on different topics, it helps. Google is my best friend sometimes. Try it and share with me how this has helped your walk.
Love you all !!
